Really Good Beans?
Have you ever seen a pack of something at the store and bought it just to see how it would taste? Here is the experiment of the day ... the Anasazi Bean.
It appears that this colorful, brown and white bean has been around for a very long time. Some say that it has a richer flavor and creamier texture than other beans. One of my favorite beans is the Pinto Bean which makes great refried beans. Also, the pinto tastes great when cooked with some pork, especially ham hocks. Can't wait to get the "ancient heirloom" Anasazi Beans into the pot!
Anyone care for a dish?

They sound yummy. I'll have to grab a pack next time I'm in the states. Right now I'm savouring all things English, being in London, and it feels so good!

Well hello stranger!!! It has been ages! I just popped in to wave hello darling friend! Hope things find you well!
If you want to kick up your pintos, try cooking them with bay leaves, chicken broth (I use 2-4 of the cubes)and some garlic as well as the ham hocks. My chef husband made them for me one night and we don't cook them any other way now. Also, on the side, add cottage cheese, corn bread and the tomato, green pepper, onion and vinegar relish==a dish to die for!
Sounds cool! I just love going to Mesa Verde. The Anasazi used to live there before they disappeared. It is one of the most relaxing places I've ever been and it feels so peaceful.
k....YUMMM!
Since they're on the diet, let me know how they turn out!
I'm way more fonder of beans than I am meats, that's for sure.
Ohhhh...with some tomato sauce and a bit of onion maybe?
