Strange Birds

This wild turkey was fluffed up in the middle of the street, displaying for a pair of female turkeys when I drove up to them. I got the camera ready as they got off the road. He puffed up again as soon as they got to safety. Here he is. Can you see this Tom in his habitat?

This strange bird belongs to NASA. It is the Super Guppy and has a cargo compartment that is 25 feet tall, 25 feet wide and 111 feet long. It can carry a maximum payload of more than 26 tons. The aircraft has unique hinged nose that can open more than 200 degrees, allowing large pieces of cargo to be loaded and unloaded from the front. It's just passing through this neck of the woods.

And here are the Coots. They are only here at the pond during the daylight hours. I'm not sure where they go in the evening.

COOTS??? Okay, I just don't know my birds, cause when I hear that I think of Cooter, which I always thought sounded like a slang for a female body part, although it was the name of the darn mechanic dude from the Dukes of Hazzard (geez, I'm old).

I See all is well in Oklahoma and that you survived the storms. Suzanne was very worried about you. By the way, Hi, I'm Cecile. You may recognize me from Suze and Bindi, and perhaps a few other places. I just thought I would stop by and introduce myself.

I have a special place in my heart reserved for birds of all kinds. They have so much personality, in their way. We had a lovely pet dove for many years, and he was a very friendly fellow.

Skeeter!!!

I'm back. Finally. What ever happened in my tummy is over. THANK GOD!!! My headache is finally subsiding as well. What a waste of my time. Seriously.

Hi honey!

The kitties wouldn't sleep one night. I had no idea what was wrong until daybreak. A Tom with all his hens (9) in our back yard! Wow-Wee. What a wonderful sight and honor. We watched for hours until they all flew away, never to return. Oh well.

Then, just about a month ago I was leaving to feed the ferals, got on to the main six lane drag a few blocks up the street, went a few block and what did I see? A huge flock of Tom's all puffed up in the Sizzler parking lot. Swear to God! It was really amazing on a quiet Sunday morning.

I'm so glad you and your family are fine. Hopefully this is the end of the tornado season. (Well of course I'm laughing, but hopeful!) Have a beautiful Spring and hope to hear from you soon. Until then, I have lots of catching up to do on your blog!

XO

P.S. We're enjoying almost 90 degree weather today and I heard on the news this morning that poor MN had a snow storm. How awful.
