Don't you just hate it when your computers hard drive makes noise? Don't you just hate it more when ... it doesn't make noise anymore?
That's the story, Morning Glory. That old hard drive is going into a ziplock bag and then it will spend the next day in the freezer. Will try to recover files and data from it if it can be brought back to life. If not, well ... time for a new drive anyway.

why do you put it in the freezer?
Wow.
Now there's a trick I didn't know about!
Poor harddrive.....
I had NO idea you could put them in the freezer and recover data from them. Weird...I guess when we get a new computer we will have to take a sledge hammer to the hard drive. I think he did something evil to the old one when we got the new one...so nobody could read my old emails...they are so interesting. :D~
Yes, I just hate it. My work computer tower makes all kinds of strange noises, but the computer guys at the Dumbass Industries always give me the same answer: "It's just the fan, no worries". I just hope it gets burnt one day.
With my laptop it's different. Last year I had to send my HP Pavillion to the repair shop because it had a default: the processor got too hot and it ruined the graphic card.
My advice: buy another brand.
Good luck with your HD data, Skeeter. The computer can be replaced, so it doesnt really matter. But it's different with the data. I hope you have a recent backup, just in case.
