First Blooms

After some rough weather, the first signs of Spring have finally come. These blooms just popped open ... under a nest that some birds have built in the lattice for the climbing roses. Those roses get very bushy and bristle with thorns. The chicks will be well protected and have the best smelling nest in the neighborhood!

A little further down the wall, I found the first rosebud of the season.

Isn't that clever? A nest in a Rose bush...just remarkable how nature/birds pick where they will nest! It always just amazes me. Look the daffies, too! yes, you should come and see the Stockton Thunder team...it was great fun!

Robyn

Hmmmm. No flowers up here yet. Soon I hope. But then, I remember that most of my annuals are actually perennials because I suck so bad at plants, lol.

First blooms--what a lovely post. In Brooklyn, the crocuses and then the forsythia are our first blooms. It's so magical to see the purple and white flowers showing their little faces! My daughter and I love looking for them on the way to school.

At my alma mater, Swarthmore College, the spring every year brought masses of daffodils--the college was an arboretum, and someone planted literally thousands and thousands of daffodils all up and down the main walk there. It was stunning.

Well, your post reminded me of all this. Thanks, Skeeter! and happy spring.

See? Under all that sarcasm and cynicism is a sensitive soul.

Lovely. I have several rosebushes (one right under my bedroom window is almost unbelievably fragrant in the summer...talk about an aphrodisiac..) and not ONE is blooming yet.

It has been a long, cold Winter here on the prairie.

I'm laughing because when I arrived I thought, "Where's my damn comment? I know I wrote it because I remember doing so!" I looked up and down and all around and nothing. Hummmmmmmm. I've been having trouble with leaving comments lately, both on my blog and on others, so thought "Oh well, another one bites the dust." Then I thought "Did I write it on my blog?" Went back and sure enough, that's exactly where the little rascal was!

I was up almost all night because I didn't feel well and because Ohno was neutered yesterday and you know me, I worry. I didn't want him to stop breathing or jump from anything more than 10' high, so kept one eye on him and used the other to work on the computer. I was able to answered all the comments on my recent post!!! Yours included. So dude...it's over there *Points to the west.* The land of golden sunshine, the land of opportunity, the land of bikini clad women almost 365 days a year, including leap years, and of course, the land of Spring way before anyone else catches a glimpse! See ya soon!

XO Suze

p.s. Great post and pictures.

You'll laugh. I just had to go through 3 word verifications to post my comment and the 1st one, I swear to God, had "banjjo" as the last 6 letters. Swear to God. I couldn't stop laughing. Do you think they're watching us and playing stupid word games?! Is this place and X File?

Ahhhhh, such loveliness… and here I am in this cold place! Can you believe we were still having some snow flakes last week? No good... no good for my springfever spirit :)

Have a great day my friend!

Skeeter,

I was just walking through the living room and saw on CNN that you might be in a bit of trouble. Tornado warnings. I hope you're okay. If you're able to do so, please let all of us know you're safe. Good luck to you and your family.

Much love,
Suze

Skeeter,

Just got a call from Cecile in Arkansas and her house was spared, but the ones around her weren't. Honey, are you okay? She called because the power is out and she wanted to alert us she was okay. I wish you had my number. We'll exchange it when you come back. I hope you're okay. I'm not religious as you know, but I'm praying like hell.
