Sleeping With Bread

The examen, based on the spiritual exercises of St. Ignatius, helps a person hold onto what spiritually nourishes them by looking at what is giving them consolation in their life or causing him desolation. It allows someone to express his gratitude to God for the good stuff and turn to him for solace for the bad stuff. It is quite simple. You simply ask yourself, in the last day/week/month what gave me consolation and what caused me desolation.

So, without further ado ...

The Good.

A Momma Robin dropped these three bundles of joy into a unused nest over the crook of a gutter's downspout.

They're a little messy and a little noisy, but I'm glad they're here munching on the creepy crawlies from the lawn.

The Bad.

The economy really needs a turn around. Was talking with one of my brothers who lives in Kansas. He just survived another round of layoffs. Really need this economy to turn around and show some signs of life.

Hey Skeeter! Back from Pittsburg?
You've got a nice gang there!

Glad to know that your brother survived the layoff. I hope there's no sword of Damocles anymore. My brother -construction sector- survived a few ones too. These are tough times, let's hope for the best.

I love your birds.

And yes, the economy is truly frightening, despite the fact that "they" are telling us it's so much better. Everyday struggling folks beg to disagree.

I'm with you on the economy... I have contacted my congressmen, have you???
They need to know that people are more than a bunch of numbers!!

Hi Skeeter!

The economy is bad, agreed.

But I love your little fledgelings-what great entertainmemnt to watch the parents toiling to feed the little ones. Hope you get to see them fly...

I guess I'm grateful you are back home safe and sound. That would be the good.

The bad...well, there are good days and bad.

However, I still don't understand the whole bread thing. I understand the "casting it upon the waters" and feeding a multitude, but sleeping with it? Still good, though.

Hey Skeeter,

I reckon Momma Robin knows that her babies will be in safe where they are.
Hope that your brother survives the tough times.

Cheers,
Mark.
