There's something about horses that has always fascinated me. While I was working on a fence for a friend, I had to cross the road and say "Hi!" to these ponies. This old mare came over and demanded some affection ... and eventually some of the apple I had for lunch.
It's great to see horses, sleek, well-fed and happy in pastures large enough for them to roam and enjoy life. Something tells me that these horses like the dinner table a little more than galloping through their meadow.
How about you? Like Horses?

I'm a urbanite, Skeeter and unfortunately I have seen very few horses in my life, but i like them.
I have a friend in the UK who has been working with horses for a few years now and runs horsemanship clinics. He's very good and well known, have a look:

I am not a huge fan of horses--I know, it sounds almost unAmerican, I just like other animals better. Horses are graceful and pretty, I am just not that into them. Of course, I would rather be around horses than pigs! You could put that into football vernacular--I would rather be in Colorado (Go Broncos!) than in Arkansas ("cringe" Pig Sueee)!
Loved them until we had three or four or five and one needed the vet if the other one didn't...and then there is the breeding and the watching for the foaling time and that is always 1 minute after you decide to go home and nothing will happen that night.
Yep...I still love them but from a distance.
I do like them, but they are so BIG. I can't imagine ever owning one.
I love to watch them, though.
I like horses but they scare the hell out of me.
Once when I was a kid, my mother made me a green jumpsuit. I had it on and was petting the neighbors horse when he decided to take a bite out of my jumpsuit.
Then there was the time a friend of mine had a shetland pony and offered me a ride. Such a little horse but dang.... that thing did NOT like me on it's back.
Funny memories. I'll take a dog thanks.
I love horses, but they make me sneeze!
I imagine they are the motorbikes of old- galloping across field and fen. I would love to have learned to ride. Last time I was on a pony (when i was aged about 10), it bolted then stopped suddenly to eat something, i flew over its head and landed in gorse, breaking the reins. As I said- it was the last time!
Hi Skeeter,
Looks like you have some friends there... I don't know too much about horses, but I've always liked them. Have a great week!
The Bach
I'm a city girl as well but I used to ride horses when I was a kid during my visits to my grandparents' hacienda... Some of them, especially the well-bred ones are actually affectionate like the ones you described here Skeeter...

Love horses--owned horses.
Way much work and way worth it at that time in my life.
Thank goodness I got older. LOL
