U is for Unusual

Got a couple of unnusual images from around the neighborhood. The first one is a ring of mushroom growing in my neighbors yard.

Rings of mushrooms are supposed to be the location of gateways into elfin kingdoms, or places where fairies and elves gather and dance. Since I haven't heard any party music in the nieghborhood AND there were muddy little foot prints (ok, they could be paw prints) on the windshield of my pickup, I have to guess that this ring is a magical doorway of some kind. Great, just great. Now the wee people of the forest are ascending to the surface of our world through my neighbors yard (probably because it is a better lawn than mine), then hanging out and having their elven fun and games on the top of the cab of my pickup. So this makes it official then, EVERYONE is having a better time of it than me. I really hate having broken bones!

Here is that blue heron I've been trying to photograph all these months. He let me get this close this morning.

Before he flew off ...

and all his buddies came for breakfast.

Mushroom rings fascinate me. If I remember correctly from Bio in college, in some areas they can spread out over 100s of yards!

What out for the damn fairy's though.

I'm jealous! I just have random mushrooms sprouting hither and yon, OBVIOUSLY the wee folks don't LIKE my neighborhood...too many cats wandering about would be my guess.

I would like to apologize now for secretly giggling about your broken arm, after picturing the many ways it could have happened...and the many things that you can no longer do with said broken arm!

Bad, I'm so bad!

Elves and fairies are nothing but trouble. Steer clear of that mushroom ring!

I want to live where you live. How is it that there is a lake by your house? And blue herons? Beautiful!

Did you make a wish while standing on the end of it? Because, you see, you gotta make a wish....

Cece. "Fungi!!!" Eyes roll back in head to view disco ball and Jorge hanging from it. Skeeter, will it never end? Okay, I'll play along. Fingi rings fascinate me, and so do fairies and elves. I'm moving to your neighborhood because I also adore the birds and lake/pond.

XO ;)

I had to giggle to myself as I viewed the Mushroom ring. You see, I just finished watching a few episodes of the Showtime show "Weeds".
In the opening them song/credits, they show all the houses on the hillside where they all look "just the same". Maybe you've got a California subdivision of fairies living near you.
